(OCT 29) For the last two months, Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson was contacted by a representative of Vermont’s Chris Gilbert about a fight in the Big Apple.  Melson was aware that Gilbert, an unbeaten power puncher, would be a tough opponent, but had no doubt that he’d emerge victorious. After a number of back and forth conversations with Team Gilbert, both sides agreed to make the match for December 4 in the main event of a DiBella Entertainment card at BB King Blues Club. There are many more to come. The Golden State Boxers Association hopes this is just the beginning of proper recognition for our female contention in this fine sport. In the future we will, of course, be remembering our male boxers as we always have. Light welterweight Nicholas Jefferson (Tacoma, Wash.) boxed in men’s division competition while middleweight Franchon Crews (Baltimore, Md.) kicked off tournament action for the women. WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (October 20, 2013) – Last night at the Pico Rivera Arena in Whittier California, Gary Shaw Productions in association with La Noria Entertainment presented a fun, exciting night of boxing. In the 10-round main event, fan favorite Alejandro Luna (16-0, 12 KOs) won by way of TKO after his opponent Daniel Attah (28-17-1, 11 KOs)could not continue after round six.  Luna switching back and forth from southpaw to orthodox used a vicious body attack to control the action.  Attah never landed any hard punches that could keep Luna off of him as Alejandro applied pressure throughout the fight.   The fans were thrilled to see the referee stop the bout and raise the hand of their local hero. “This was a good test to see how I could fair against a crafty veteran,” said Luna.
