Comments Off on Brawl At The Mall: Undefeated! Filipino Prospects Vie For WBF Title

The next installment of Sanman Promotions “Brawl At The Mall” series goes ahead on Saturday April 30 at the Makati Square Cinema Boxing Arena in Makati City, Metro Manilla, Philippines, headlined by a World Boxing Federation (WBF) championship fight.

Undefeated prospects “Magic” Mike Plania, a 19-year-old from General Santos City, and Lorence Rosas (21), hailing from Puerto Princesa City, will vie for the vacant WBF International Bantamweight crown in what will be both boxers first title fight.

While the younger man by almost three years and a professional for a shorter time, Plania has been the more active of the two and currently spots a fine 9-0 record, with four wins inside the distance. Southpaw Rosas brings a 5-0-2 ledger to the bout, having stopped two of his opponents before the final bell.

The card, which will be free to the public, also features WBF International Featherweight Champion John Vincent Moralde, 15-0 (7), in a non-title ten-rounder against tough former Philippines national champion Jimmy Aducal, 8-5-2 (6). Additionally there will be eight preliminary bouts.

On the same night in Kampala, Uganda, local hero David Basajjamivule fights Tanzanian Mbaruku Kheri for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental Light Heavyweight title in the main event of a show at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

Basajjamivule is 15-3-1 (10) since entering the paid ranks in 2002. The draw came in his pro debut, while his losses were against very good opposition in top-class operators Isaac Chilemba (twice) and Ryno Liebenberg, all in South Africa. He is coming off two victories in Uganda.

Kheri has emerged victorious from his last four outings, and most of his defeats since turning professional in 2005 has also come against good opposition. His professional record stands at 16-8 (14), and he definitely has the power to shock the favored Basajjamivule if given the opportunity.
