Huntington, New York, January 27, 2018:  Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing presented the latest edition of the ‘Rockin fights’ series last night at the Paramount in Huntington, NY before a completely sold out crowd.  The main event saw Hicksville, NY native Anthony “Showtime” Karperis, improve to 15-3 5KO with an impressive 10 round unanimous win over the ever so tough and game Nicaraguan, Nelson Lara, who falls to 17-10-4 9KO by scores of 100-90, and 99-91 on the other two judge’s scorecards.  The bout was contested in the jr. welterweight division. Zimbabwean Elvis Moyo continued the impressive resurrection of his career on Friday night, January 26, as he retained the World Boxing Federation (WBF) All Africa Heavyweight title on home ground at the City Sports Centre in Harare. Moyo, who returned to boxing last July after four years competing in MMA, made his first title-defense of his second reign as WBF All Africa titlist, scoring a unanimous decision over South Africa-based Congolese Knife Didier. The fight was a back-and-forth brutal brawl, with both boxers attacking each other aggressively, but the superiority in power for Moyo gave him the edge. TACOMA, Wash. – Manuel Perez overcame a second-round knockdown to defeat John Jackson by unanimous decision in the main event of Battle at the Boat 114 Friday at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash. Perez appeared as the overwhelming 99-92, 97-92, 96-93 winner on the scorecards in the 10-round welterweight bout to improve his record to 29-12-1 with 7 KOs.  Jackson fell to 17-4-2 with the loss.
