Latest Update on “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas!

(AUG 12) Having spent the last week training at JABB Boxing Gym, two-time junior middleweight champion “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas will take time this weekend to visit with the thousands of his Chicagoland fans. Said Fernando, “Since I landed here last Saturday night the people have shown nothing but love. I’m honored to be fighting here on August 20th. It’s been tight everywhere I’ve gone. I’m thrilled to be here and glad I made the decision to bring the fight to the people of Chicago. ”

Friday afternoon Fernando will visit Wrigley Field to take in the Chicago Cubs/St. Louis Cardinals game. Before the game which starts at 1:20pm, Fernando will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in front of the sold out crowd of 40,000.

Saturday night Fernando will watch the Chicago Fire/Los Angeles Galaxy at Soldier Field. Before the game at 7:15pm Fernando will be presented with a personalized Chicago Fire jersey at midfield.

On Sunday at 2pm, Fernando will hold an open to the public work at TCF Bank at 3333 W. 26th Street in the Little Village neighborhood. The ring for this unique appearance will be set up in the parking lot next to the bank.

On Monday morning at 7am on FOX In The Morning (Channel 32), Fernando will be interviewed regarding his upcoming battle with Javier Castillejo and his time spent in Chicago.

On August 20, in addition to the Vargas-Castillejo bout, fight fans will also be treated to a second 12 round battle as undefeated WBC #1 ranked contender Rocky Juarez challenges WBC #2 ranked contender Humberto Soto for the WBC-Interim Featherweight Championship at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
