Unbeaten heavyweight Derric Rossy added to “Mayhem in Mansfield”

WOBURN, Mass. (August 31, 2005) – Former Boston College defensive lineman Derric Rossy (8-0, 5 KOs) returns to familiar grounds, close to where he starred on the gridiron, in order to advance his professional boxing career.

Rossy has been added to the September 17th “Mayhem in Mansfield” undercard at the Dana Barros Sports Complex in Mansfield, Massachusetts. “Mayhem in Mansfield” is promoted by New England Ringside Promotions in association with Irish Ropes and Cedric Kushner Productions.

“Rossy gives us a real B.C. maroon-and-gold flavor especially with former Eagles basketball great Dana Barros hosting the show at his beautiful sports complex,” New England Ringside Promotions president Rick Brutti said. “Rossy is a big, athletic Italian kid who is unlike so many former football players who’ve turned to boxing. Derric has very quick hands and feet to go along with his obvious power.”

Unbeaten Irish middleweight sensation John Duddy (11-0, 10 KOs) headlines in the eight-round main event against former WBC Fecarbox light middleweight champion Joseph “The Assassin” Brady (13-4-1, 6 KOs) from Albuquerque (NM). Former Massachusetts super middleweight champion Derrick “Double Impact” Whitley (22-23-3, 11 KOs) faces light heavyweight Dhafir “No Fear” Smith (13-9-2, 3 KOs) of Pennsylvania in the eight-round co-feature.

Irish junior middleweight prospect James Moore (1-0, 1 KO), a Bronze Medal winner at the 2001 World Amateur Championships, is scheduled to fight in his first six-round match. Dublin native Paschal “Packie” Collins (13-2-1, 4 KOs) makes a comeback after being idle six years in a six-round super middleweight match against an opponent to be determined.

In scheduled four-round matches, Worcester welterweight Luis Villamontes, fighting out of Brockton, is matched against David Lee Marquez, of Colorado Springs, in pro debuts for both fighters; former two-time New England Junior Olympics champion, light heavyweight Chris Treatti, from Quincy (MA), and former three-time New York City Golden Gloves champion, junior welterweight Jorge Teron (5-0, 4 KOs), are also scheduled to fight on the card. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

Tickets are priced at $100.00 (VIP/ringside), $55.00 (reserved), and $35.00 general admission.
