The junior division tournament will select the young male boxers who will represent the United States this summer at the 2013 AIBA Junior Men’s World Championships. The first-time event provides valuable competition experience for the nation’s 15 and 16-year-old athletes as the move through the developmental pipeline. MONTREAL (January 4, 2013) - Finally, after much speculation about his next opponent, International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight Carl "The Cobra" Froch (30-2-0, 22 KOs), of Great Britain, is forced to defend his belt against mandatory contender Adonis "Superman" Stevenson (19-1-0, 16 KOs). In a letter from IBF representative Lindsey Tucker, dated January 2, 2013, sent to the promoters of Froch and Stevenson, both parties were invited to negotiate and Jan. 15 was imposed as the deadline. If at that time the parties were unable to reach an agreement a purse bid would be held in the IBF offices in New Jersey. January 3, 2013 - The WBC board of governors have voted Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero vs. Andre Berto as their 2012 "Fight of the Year".  Guerrero, a four-division and six-time world champion, and former two-time world champion Berto, engaged in an all out slugfest for twelve rounds.  Berto survived knockdowns by Guerrero in rounds one and two, and showed tremendous heart fighting tough to the final bell.
