Miranda Carter previews her ‘Fighting Spirit’ show, this Sunday at York Hall: “The dust has settled and it looks like there will be nine fights on the card.
Headlining the show is a classic battle for a Masters belt, between Ideh Ockuko and Ibrar Riyaz. Both boxers are experienced and wily operators. “Ibbs” is one of the busiest boxers around and his demanding training regime makes him a real danger. Ideh is explosive and showy – always goading his opponents to find their weak spot. This is a classic piece of matchmaking by Jim Evans and I am not betting on the result.
Two of the boxers I manage are back in the ring. Billy Rumble, currently trained by his father, Charlie Rumble, is fighting fit and ready to take on Joe Beeden. Matt McCarthy, equally dedicated to his fitness, is looking to continue his unbeaten run.
The undercard has a real selection. Adam Salman had an explosive debut on my last show and has been trained up by Alec Wilkey to deliver another cracking fight. Chris Rackley and Lerrone Richards also face tough opposition – can they live up to their reputation?
Also, I welcome back Jack Dishart, and new faces on this Left Jab bill include Johnny Coyle and a debut from light middleweight Fion O’ Meara.”
‘Fighting Spirit’, York Hall Bethnal Green, Sunday 24th November. Doors open 2pm, boxing 3pm.
