(AUG 26, 2015) Tacoma, Washington – On September 17th, Seattle’s light middleweight prospect Walter Wright (8-1, 4 KO’s) will face the tenacious Billy Lyell (7-2, 2 KO’s) from Warren, Ohio Saturday night in Tacoma’s Emerald Queen Casino, I-5 showroom.
“This fight will be sure to have you sitting on the edge of your seat.” said promoter, Brian Halquist, “Right now these fighters are neck-and-neck, and the winner of this fight will be one step closer to being a true contender.”
Wright has won eight fights in a row and this will be his second main event at the Emerald Queen. Lyell, in turn, is a stable mate of undefeated middleweight contender, Kelly Pavlik. So with weeks of competitive sparring under his belt, Lyell is coming to Washington to win. “Billy is a nonstop puncher” says matchmaker Rick Weissman. “He throws an incredible amount of punches, and his record is a bit deceiving, as both his losses are questionable,” Weissman said. This will be a main event Washington fans won’t want to miss.
The co-main event will feature Othello, Washington’s undefeated super lightweight prospect, David Torres (10-0, 7 KO’s) against Coloradan, Andrew Marquez (5-3-1, 4 KO’s) in a six round fight.
“This is going to be a good match for Torres, and we want him to fight tough,” said Halquist. “We are prepping Torres to do a ten
round main event in October and we want to step up his competition, starting with this fight. Marquez has a huge punch and will hurt you if you aren’t fast enough.”
The under card will feature hometown hero, Roger Cantrell; Puyallup local, Nate Smith who is fighting Matt Blake from Billings, Montana; Kevin Reynolds from Vancouver as well as female fighter, Molly McConnell from Portland, Oregon.
