Miguel Vazquez Tops Cosme Rivera In WBF Title Fight
In a fast-paced and gritty fight, former IBF World Lightweight ruler Miguel “Titere” Vazquez captured the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Mexican Welterweight crown on Friday night, April 13, at Parque Revulucion in Culiacan.
Vazquez (31), from Guadalajara, defeated veteran home-town favourite, and former WBF World Welterweight Champion, Cosme “Chino” Rivera by unanimous decision on a show promoted by Promociones Boxisticas Culiacan.
Both men had come to put on a show for the fans, and, while at times a little messy, the fight was entertaining with two warriors coming forward and trying to gain momentum. Vazquez was the quicker man with both hands and feet, but Rivera never stopped trying despite failing to land anything clean.
