LA NUCIA, Spain (November 18, 2022) – Team USA went 2-1 during today’s boxing at the 2022 Youth World Championships in La Nucia, Spain, advancing two more boxers to their respective weight classes round of 16. Light middleweight Amir Anderson (Syracuse, N.Y.) drew the reigning European Champion, Bobbi Flood of Ireland, for his World Championships debut, setting up an exciting match that lived up to the expectation between the two. LA NUCIA, Spain (November 17, 2022) – Ryan Williams (Toledo, Ohio) and Dedrick Crocklem (Tacoma, Wash.) picked up Team USA’s fourth and fifth win of the 2022 Youth World Championships in La Nucia, Spain, by way of unanimous decision. Williams began the day for USA Boxing by dominating his opponent, Miguel Estrada Montenegro of Canada. The flyweight’s first two rounds saw the three judges score the rounds 10-9, while the other two scored the rounds 10-8. Williams closed out the fight with five more 10-9 scores to take the 5-0 decision and advance to face Ari Bonilla of Mexico on Saturday. LA NUCIA, Spain (November 15, 2022) – Light welterweight Dedrick Crocklem (Tacoma, Wash.) made a strong statement in his opening bout against Tran Minh Tri Pham of Vietnam with his RSC decision victory. Crocklem came out strong in the first round, controlling the fight to take all five judges’ cards at the end of the round, including one judge scoring the round 10-8. The American picked up the pace landing numerous combinations and body shots against his opponent to extend his lead after all five judges scored the round 10-8. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 10, 2022) – As talented featherweight Cornellio “Chada” Phipps prepares for the upcoming Youth World Championships, he admits to living the dream, and before he turns pro in a few years, the Olympic-style boxing plan for him is medaling in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The 17-year-old Phipps, who fights out of Oxford, Pa., first got into boxing four years ago on the advice of his father. Phipps played basketball and football, but he didn’t feel either of those were his true spot. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 3, 2022) – Syracuse light middleweight Amir “Cashman” Anderson has gone from being bullied in school to one of the faces of USA Boxing’s immediate future. The 18-year-old Anderson has already captured top honors at the 2022 Summer Festival National Championships, 2022 USA Boxing National Qualifier, 2021 USA Boxing Youth National Championships, 2019 USA Boxing Junior National Championships and 2019 Eastern Regional Open in his young career.
