Taylor Mabika Lifts WBF International Cruiserweight Title

Gabon-born Taylor Mabika is the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Cruiserweight Champion, after he won the vacant title on Friday night, June 17, in Differdange, Luxembourg by seeing off former world title-challenger Lars Buchholz from Germany.  A fired-up Mabika seemed intend to impress and took the initiative early, winning the first three rounds of what was shaping up to be a one-sided fight, before referee Vincent Dupas stepped in and called it off just before the end of round four. Mabika, a former African titlist and Luxembourg national champion, was throwing a barrage of punches and Buchholz didn’t seem to have an answer for them. But the Germans defense was tight and he never appeared hurt, so it could be argued that the stoppage was a bit premature. Official Read more [...]

On Saturday night, June 11, at the Sport Hall in Trencin, Slovakia, Georgian underdog Giorgi Beroshvili stunned former World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Champion and local favorite Tamas Kovacs to win the vacant WBF Euroasia Light Heavyweight title.  Kovacs, cheered on by a nice crowd at the Sport Hall in Trencin, won the first two rounds with superior boxing, and seemed to have the wild-swinging visitor under control, but in round three it all went down hill for the veteran when a big left hook from Beroshvili detonated on his chin. Kovacs was dropped hard, but made it to his feet before referee Tamas Sasvari reached the count of ten, and used some clever tactics to buy himself some more time when he spit out his mouthpiece. However, it was not enough, as Beroshvili had no intentions Read more [...]

Congo.  Promoted by TK Promotions, the fight was high-paced as Ramabola boxed aggressively but disciplined and never let Mugishu find his rhythm. After ten rounds of boxing, judges Elroy Marshal and Rasie Erasmus scored the fight 99-91 and 98-92 for Moyo, while judge Clifford Mbelu seemed to be way off the mark with his 95-95 score.
