(OCT 29) For the last two months, Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson was contacted by a representative of Vermont’s Chris Gilbert about a fight in the Big Apple.  Melson was aware that Gilbert, an unbeaten power puncher, would be a tough opponent, but had no doubt that he’d emerge victorious. After a number of back and forth conversations with Team Gilbert, both sides agreed to make the match for December 4 in the main event of a DiBella Entertainment card at BB King Blues Club. (OCT 27) On November 9th, 2013, the Golden State Boxers Association will be honoring eight female boxers with California connections to the sport, who have made a significant impact in the world of boxing. There are many more to come. The Golden State Boxers Association hopes this is just the beginning of proper recognition for our female contention in this fine sport. In the future we will, of course, be remembering our male boxers as we always have. California has a rich background in outstanding fighters. Highlighted in Ring Magazine, in the top ten most significant female boxers of all time, we are excited to honor Sue “Tiger Lily” Fox who is one of the most important journalists for women’s boxing. October 24, 2013 - Boxing promoter Gary Shaw who represents Australian fighters Daniel Geale and top contender Joel Brunker to name a few, is an avid supporter of promoting fights internationally, especially in Australia. After a fight between Australian Anthony Mundine and American Shane Mosley was recently cancelled due to some controversy, Shaw had this to say about his dealings with the Australian boxing commission. October 21, 2013 - by Julie Goldsticker/Press Release (COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Team USA opened competition at the SportAccord World Combat Games in St. Petersburg, Russia on Sunday with two American boxers competing in first round action. Light welterweight Nicholas Jefferson (Tacoma, Wash.) boxed in men’s division competition while middleweight Franchon Crews (Baltimore, Md.) kicked off tournament action for the women. Jefferson battled Bulgaria’s Ivo Jordanov in his first international bout at the Yubileiny Sports Complex in the afternoon session. The American made his international debut a successful one, pulling out a 2-1 decision over Jordanov in their light welterweight contest. WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (October 20, 2013) - Last night at the Pico Rivera Arena in Whittier California, Gary Shaw Productions in association with La Noria Entertainment presented a fun, exciting night of boxing. In the 10-round main event, fan favorite Alejandro Luna (16-0, 12 KOs) won by way of TKO after his opponent Daniel Attah (28-17-1, 11 KOs)could not continue after round six.  Luna switching back and forth from southpaw to orthodox used a vicious body attack to control the action.  Attah never landed any hard punches that could keep Luna off of him as Alejandro applied pressure throughout the fight.   The fans were thrilled to see the referee stop the bout and raise the hand of their local hero.
