WBO orders Donnie Nietes vs. Aston Palicte II

LAS VEGAS (February 6, 2019) - The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered negotiations to begin for a rematch between reigning WBO Junior Bantamweight World Champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes and No. 1-ranked, mandatory challenger "Mighty" Aston Palicte. The WBO contacted the promoters for Nietes and Palicte, respectively, ALA Promotions and Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions, informing them that they have 15 days to reach an agreement regarding Nietes vs. Palicte II. If an agreement isn't reached by the Feb. 19th deadline, the WBO will order a purse bid. The minimal bid is $100,000, but either promoter may request a purse bid procedure at any time during the negotiation process. 2018 Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships has Largest Turnout in USA Boxing History

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  -- 1972 Olympic bronze medalist Jesse Valdez, who was an outstanding amateur boxer, never turned pro because he chose security for his family rather than take a risk and parlay his amateur pedigree into a prize fighting career.  Valdez first went to the local Boys' Club when he was 11. The youngest of seven children in a low-income family, headed by his single mother, in which the kids all slept in one bedroom, girls in a bed, boys on the floor, sharing space with cockroaches. USA vs. Germany Duels to take place in Chattanooga alongside Eastern Qualifier

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Garcia and Stevens Close Out 2018 Youth World Championships with Wins

BUDAPEST, Hungary (August 31, 2018) -- The final day of the 2018 Youth World Championships in Budapest, Hungary was another golden day for Team USA, as both Heaven Garcia (El Monte, Calif.) and Asa Stevens (Waianae, Hawaii) won the female and male flyweight titles.
