Miguel Cotto Captures WBO Junior Middleweight Title With Unanimous Decision

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 27, 2017) Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs), the only four-division world champion in Puerto Rico's rich boxing history, earned his sixth world title with a unanimous decision victory against the Japanese slugger Yoshihiro "El Maestrito" Kamegai (27-4-2, 24 KOs) for the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight World Title in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,689 boxing fans at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Hirsch out due to injury, Vera steps in for Battle at the Boat 112 main event

TACOMA, Wash. – Super middleweight Tony Hirsch was forced to withdraw from his Sept. 9 Battle at the Boat 112 main event bout against Mike Gavronski after suffering a hand injury during training. The fight was scheduled for 10 rounds at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash.
