Star Boxing News: Showtime Karperis Bounces Back With Impressive Win

Huntington, New York, January 27, 2018:  Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented the latest edition of the 'Rockin fights' series last night at the Paramount in Huntington, NY before a completely sold out crowd.  The main event saw Hicksville, NY native Anthony "Showtime" Karperis, improve to 15-3 5KO with an impressive 10 round unanimous win over the ever so tough and game Nicaraguan, Nelson Lara, who falls to 17-10-4 9KO by scores of 100-90, and 99-91 on the other two judge's scorecards.  The bout was contested in the jr. welterweight division. Star Boxing Year in Review: A look Back Before this Friday’s Rockin Fights Kali Reis

Bejenaru Wins in WBC International Title Defense at the event : Slugfest at the Sun

Uncasville, CT, November 26, 2017-Last night, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented another rendition of the "Slugfest at The Sun" series at the Mohegan Sun arena in Uncasville, CT. The card was headlined by Crusierweights Constantin Bejenaru and Thabiso Mchunu who fought for Bejenaru's WBC International Cruiserweight title in a 10 round bout. Bejenaru came away with a unanimous decision victory over Mchunu, the mandatory challenger, defending his WBC International title sucessfully.  The bout often times saw each fighter playing the game if cat and mouse with one another. Final 10 Bells for DeGuardia Family Patriarch

New York, March 10, 2016 -The DeGuardia family and Star Boxing would like to thank the boxing world and everyone else for their tremendous outpouring of support and kind words for a man who was truly special.   Joseph DeGuardia SR., (AKA DioGuardi) a lifelong resident of the Bronx and resident of Morris Park for over 50 years, died on March 8, 2016. He was 86.  Mr. DeGuardia was born on February 27, 1930 in New York City to the late Dominick and Emilia (Leone) DioGuardi. He was a professional boxer who founded the Morris Park Boxing Club and BATOY (Better America Through Our Youth). Through these organizations he trained and mentored an entire generation of boxers.
