Petr Petrov earns mandatory WBA lightweight title shot with stoppage over Michael Perez

Indio, CA (October 3, 2016) - Petr Petrov (38-4-2, 19 KO's) earned a mandatory world title shot at the WBA Lightweight title with a stoppage after 6 rounds over Michael Perez in a scheduled 12 round bout at the Fantasy Springs Casino Resort in Indio, California.  In round 2, Perez was bloodied over his right eye, and Petrov was cut on his forehead. Later in the round, Petrov dropped Perez with a hard right to the head. Petrov continued the assault as he battered and hurt Perez with evenly dispersed punches to the head and body. As the blood continued over Perez's right eye, Petrov never let up.
