SARTONK Announces the Recipients of the Annual Ali-King Award

Alongside a prominent class of twelve Hall of Fame Inductees, three youth were recognized at the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Banquet on 8 November, 2012. Joseph Rinaldi, Chance Solem-Pfeifer, and Nafisa Umarova were the recipients of SARTONK’s inaugural Ali-King Award. Their essay submissions were selected as the top three by a panel of five judges. Named after Martin Luther King, Jr. and Muhammad Ali, the contest’s aim was to inspire critical thinking about the history and social significance of boxing. “We chose these men for their tireless struggle and fight for the cause of common good. History of Womens Boxing

   "Chronological events that occurred in women's boxing.."       While women's boxing can loosely trace it beginnings to London in the 1720's, throughout the ensuing decades, there were various exhibitions and scattered bouts until the 1950's when several fighters, most notably Barbara Buttrick, JoAnn Hagen (Verhaegen), and Phyllis Kugler staged professional fights. The sport rekindled again in the 1970s thanks to the efforts of several important trailblazers. Willie Nelson a Clear & Present Danger for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez

ST. TKO Takeover As Mastrodouka Wins Title BY David Wilkey

ALL three TRAD TKO Gym fighters recorded victories on yet another outstanding 8-fight card at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Sunday 18th November courtesy of Left Jab Promotion’s ‘Matinee Idols’ show. It was an action packed afternoon at the home of British boxing as female fighter Areti Mastrodouka captured the International Masters Super Featherweight Title, with Eren Arif prevailing in a 4 round bout and debutant Tommy Martin forcing a third round stoppage over his opponent. As a result it was a good day for the trio, who are based at the Canning Town gym and trained by Alec Wilkey.
