(MAY 2) After the fantastic female bout(s) that took place at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, that had a sold-out crowd of over19,000 boxing fans, and we are sure the sport has gained much momentum after this event, we would like to let those boxing fans and more know that an International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) event will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Orleans Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WBAN/IWBHF is so excited about how women’s boxing has taken off in the last couple of years, and every year, it just keeps getting bettter. Women’s boxing is on Fire!—–and, WBAN and the IWBHF could not be happier about this.
Since we have gained many more fans to the sport, we would like to tell you about WBAN/IWBHF.
Once upon a time in 1996, when women’s boxing was just beginning to gain popularity due to a trailblazer Christy Martin and Dierdre Gogarty of Ireland, who fought on a Mike Tyson card and stole the show that night—-many women joined the ranks of female boxing, including eventually Laila Ali, Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, Freeda Foreman, and many more daughters of famous male boxer legends in around the late 1990s to 2000’s..
At the same time as Martin fought on the Tyson card, I was currently a police detective, and I re-entered the sport to get in shape for a 5k run that was taking place in Portland, Oregon.
While at the gym in Portland, someone had mentioned Christy Martin’s name—in which I did not know of until going on the Internet to check her out.
Low and behold I also searched for my “own” history as a female professional boxer as in my time in the sport I had managed to be ranked #1 in the world as a super welterweight in 1979—and others who I had either fought or I knew who fought in the 1970’s and 1980s. To my huge disappointment not only did I not find our history but the 1990s fighters were taking credit for what others before them had already done.
And so——My Journey began to set the record straight.
In May of 1998, 24 years ago, I went live on the Internet with the name, “Women Boxing Archive Network” (WBAN) to uncover the true history of the sport.
What ended up on just wanting to “Set the Record Straight” for the history—it became unbeknownst to me at the time of becoming a major force to cover all the female boxers in the world, pioneers, retired, past, and the current fighters—both amateurs and pros.
In the process, we developed the WBAN P4P Individual world title belt, and the reasoning at the time for doing so was because female boxers had no opportunity for a belt as such. We felt that women should also have an individual award belt to fight for that was the very best in the sport.
The WBAN P4P Belt was announced in 2004—but we would only approve the best of the best, and that opportunity came in June of 2008 on a televised network Fox Sports Net.
WBAN made our history first on that date with Holly Holm and Chevelle Hallback winning the highly distinguished belt in two different bouts on the card. Since then the belt made history in France, Sweden, New Mexico, and New York on a Showtime card, and more.
Other Top female boxer who have fought for the belt included boxers as Amanda Serrano; Claressa Shields; Holly Holm; Anne Sophie Mathis; Diana Prazak; Myriam Lamare; Jeannine Garside; Mary Jo Sanders; Frida Wallberg; Chevelle Hallback; Heather Hardy Tori Nelson; Lindsay Garbatt; and Anne Marie Saccurato. Only the BEST can fight for the belt, and they have to meet the criteria to fight an opponent that is ranked as highly as they are in the top five of the world.
One of the next dilemmas facing the sport was we did not see female boxers being inducted into hall of fames. I would go through the hall of fame inductees from year to year in these organizations and with major disappointment never see female boxers inducted or included.
Thus, in 2014, the History-First Hall of Fame came into place.
We had our inaugural IWBHF Induction ceremony in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with our first ever inductees. Since then we have inducted over 80 top females and males in the HOF and are in our ninth year, with every year having an induction has been nothing less than spectacular with the gathering of so many top female boxers, pioneer boxers, retired boxers, managers, trainers, boxing fans, family of inductees and more.
So with this said, we would love to have all of you in attendance with this year’s event and celebrate with us in Las Vegas, Nevada!
