USA Boxing Alumni’s 1988 USA Trials Virtual Reunion Review

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 25, 2021) - USA Boxing and the USA Boxing Alumni Association recently held a virtual reunion via Zoom for competitors at the 1988 USA Boxing Trials. Among the 25 boxers who participated were 1988 Olympic gold and silver medalist, respectively, light heavyweight Andrew Maynard and light flyweight Michael Carbajal. The group was comprised of fighters who competed at the 1988 USA Olympic Trials, plus a few administrators, many of whom hadn't seen nor spoken to most of the others for more than 30 years. “The Mason Brothers” are coming!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 16, 2020) - Cleveland light welterweight Abdullah Mason has a dream to establish himself and his four brothers in boxing.   Influenced by his older brothers and father/coach, Valiant Mason, Abdullah first got into boxing at the age of nine. His older brothers often gave him boxing tips and his father introduced him to boxing, asking his young son if he'd be interested in training at a local gym. (JULY 4, 2016) -  Light heavyweight Jonathan Esquivel (Anaheim, Calif.) won his WSB/APB Olympic Qualifying Event debut on Monday afternoon at the final qualifier in Vargas, Venezuela.  He is the only American boxer remaining in contention at the event as super heavyweightBrandon Lynch (Albany, N.Y.) dropped his opener on Sunday in his first major international bout and welterweight Paul Kroll (Philadelphia, Pa.) and heavyweight Cam F. COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (JULY 1, 2016) - Only one opportunity remains for Team USA's remaining unqualified male boxers to clinch their spots in the 2016 Olympic Games. The four American boxers competing in the WSB/APB Olympic Qualification Event July 3-8 in Vargas, Venezuela will be welterweight Paul Kroll (Philadelphia, Pa.), light heavyweight Jonathan Esquivel (Anaheim, Calif.), heavyweight Cam F. Awesome (Lenexa, Kansas) and super heavyweight Brandon Lynch (Albany, N.Y.). Julie Goldsticker report:  BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA (MARCH 13, 2016) - Bantamweight Shakur Stevenson (Newark, N.J.), middleweight Charles Conwell (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) and heavyweight Cam F. Awesome (Lenexa, Kansas) all scored definitive preliminary round victories on Sunday at the Americas Olympic Qualifier in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
